Values Education

A school that has a genuine values ethos has fewer behaviour problems, less absenteeism and an improved level of academic performance as all of the learning community care about their learning environment and the people who are part of it.

Values Education requires a whole school approach and needs the wholehearted support of Senior managers and colleagues if it is to be successfully introduced into a school. We have links with Living Values Education and Values-based Education (VbE). We work with them to promote and deliver values-based workshops and training for leaders and teachers involved in the development of values education in their learning communities.

We offer educators an introductory seminar on Values-based education and will then support the development of a values-based establishment through coaching and training. We can offer an evaluation of progress from the start to the end of the support period that allows you to monitor progress and change.

The difference you will notice may take some time, as hearts and minds need time to change sometimes, but the results speak for themselves. Research shows that the impact of Values Education on Learning communities is positive and ongoing. Investigations into the effect of Values education in schools show how both teachers and pupils develop both personally and as a learning community.

Workshop in Poland A workshop on "Morality, Civilization and Culture" or Liviu Rbreanu at a high school in the town of Turda, Cluj County. Shelagh Moore was the guest of honour, as an experienced LVE Facilitator and LVE leader in the United Kingdom. Diana Silaghi teacher of Philosophy at ‘Liviu Rbreanu’ and organiser of the visit, reported that "Shelagh’s presentation and the debate were remarkably successful. Our students have understood and realized these values and after a year we have good feedback."

Moore Associates is pleased to acknowledge the leadership and support of Dr. Neil Hawkes, founding member, Association of Living Values International (ALIVE):
"Values Education is a way of conceptualising education that places the search for meaning and purpose at the heart of the educational process. It recognises that the recognition, worth and integrity of all involved in the life and work of the school, are central to the creation of a values-based learning community that fosters positive relationships and quality in education. "
